Javier Arrebola
Born in Lucena (Córdoba, Spain) in 1981, Javier Arrebola started his musical studies in his native city and later in Córdoba, continuing them under Ana Guijarro at the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music, where he obtained the degree of Lecturer in Piano and Chamber Music with the highest marks (2002). Simultaneously he worked with Claudio Martínez Mehner and Ferenc Rados.
In June 2003 he was admitted to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (Finland), where last 2008 he obtained his Master of Music Degree with the highest possible marks. During all this time he has worked under the guidance of Ilmo Ranta.
He has also taken part actively at masterclasses with Ralf Gothóni, Udo Reinemann, Eero Heinonen and Malcolm Bilson, among others, and studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst of Vienna with Roswitha Heintze during fall 2006.
Arrebola collaborated with the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE, 2001) and was also selected to represent Spain at the "Woche der Begegnung junger Musiker" during the Schwetzingen Music Festival (Germany, 2001). He has taught German Lied and Chamber Music at the Summer School for Young Musicians in Lucena (Spain, 2004-2005).
He was invited to study at the Franz-Schubert-Institut in Austria (2005), where he worked with artists such as Jorma Hynninen, Elly Ameling, Wolfgang Holzmair, Helmut Deutsch, Edith Wiens, Walter Moore, Robert Tear and Rudolf Jansen, and to the Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Sweden (2007), where he worked with Frans Helmerson and Mats Widlund, among others.
Together with the Swedish mezzosoprano Susanna Sundberg, he won the First Prize in the Kokkola V Nordic Lied Competition (Finland, 2007).
His interests include solo recitals, chamber music and art-song repertoire. He has performed in Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Peru, Mexico and the United States.
Among other initiatives, he is a co-founding member of kohoBeat ry (www.kohobeat.com), an international musical organization based in Finland and devoted to the development of arts in Finland and other countries.
Arrebola is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (Finland).
